Ingredients:
- 2 racks of baby back ribs
- Yellow mustard (for binder)
- 4 tbsp Rave BBQ Rubs Dat Sweet Heat seasoning
- ½ cup apple juice (for spritzing)
- ¼ cup honey (optional, for extra sweetness)
- ¼ cup butter (sliced into pats)
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Ribs:
- Preheat your smoker to 225°F.
- Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs.
- Coat the ribs with a thin layer of yellow mustard as a binder, then generously season with Dat Sweet Heat on both sides, pressing the rub into the meat.
- Smoke (3 hours):
- Place the ribs bone-side down in the smoker and smoke at 225°F for 3 hours.
- Every hour, spritz the ribs with apple juice to keep them moist and add flavor.
- Wrap (2 hours):
- After 3 hours of smoking, remove the ribs from the smoker and place each rack on a double layer of heavy-duty aluminum foil.
- Drizzle honey (if using) and place a few pats of butter on each rack.
- Wrap the ribs tightly in the foil to seal in the moisture.
- Return the wrapped ribs to the smoker and cook for 2 more hours.
- Sauce & Finish (1 hour):
- After the 2-hour wrapped phase, carefully remove the ribs from the foil and return them to the smoker, bone-side down.
- Brush the ribs with BBQ sauce on both sides and sprinkle a little more Dat Sweet Heat seasoning on top for extra flavor.
- Smoke for an additional hour, allowing the sauce to caramelize and form a sticky, flavorful glaze.
- Serve:
- Remove the ribs from the smoker, let them rest for a few minutes, and then slice between the bones.
- Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side if desired.
