Ingredients:
For the Meatballs:
- 1 lb ground beef or wild game (such as venison or bison)
- 2 tbsp Rave BBQ Rubs Da Burger Bomb seasoning
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
For the Smoked Marinara Sauce:
- 2 cups marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 tbsp Rave BBQ Rubs Lasagna Love seasoning
For the Subs:
- 4 sub rolls or hoagie buns
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Extra Lasagna Love seasoning for topping
Instructions:
- Prepare the Meatballs:
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground meat, Da Burger Bomb seasoning, egg, Worcestershire sauce, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix until just combined.
- Form into golf-ball-sized meatballs.
- Smoke the Meatballs and Marinara Sauce:
- Preheat your smoker to 225°F for a low and slow smoke.
- Place the meatballs on a smoker-safe tray or wire rack, spacing them evenly.
- Pour the marinara sauce into a smoker-safe dish, stir in Lasagna Love seasoning, and place it in the smoker alongside the meatballs.
- Smoke both the meatballs and marinara sauce for about 1-1.5 hours, or until the meatballs reach an internal temperature of 160°F and are fully cooked.
- Prepare the Buns:
- While the meatballs and sauce are smoking, cut the sub rolls or hoagie buns in half.
- Scoop out some of the bread from the bottom half of each roll to create a pocket for the meatballs.
- Assemble the Meatball Subs:
- Spoon some smoked marinara sauce into the bottom of each scooped-out bun.
- Place 3-4 meatballs in each sub roll, nestling them into the pocket.
- Spoon additional smoked marinara sauce over the meatballs, then top with shredded mozzarella and a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese.
- Sprinkle a bit of Lasagna Love seasoning on top of the cheese for added flavor.
- Smoke the Assembled Subs:
- Increase the smoker temperature to 300°F.
- Place the assembled subs back on the smoker and smoke for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve:
- Carefully remove the subs from the smoker and serve hot.
